I was writing before I knew it was called writing. I mean, I was making up both stories and free-form poetry before I could read. Unlike authors who were prodigies, I didn’t learn to read until I was taught it in first grade, but I certainly knew how to make up a story. Astro-Boy, a Japanese anime character, was often my companion in my early fiction, but every movie I saw or book that was read to me got at least a try to see if I would fit into its world. (Including the wonderful D’Aulaires’ Book of Greek Myths, which made a huge impression on me—after that my companions were fauns and dryads, centaurs, nymphs, and demi-gods.)
And I constantly, silently, made up stories in my head based on whatever I was doing. Like, what might happen if . . . the door to the abandoned house on our block was really the doorway to another planet. Or to a land where unfairly enslaved animals talked. Or to a kingdom where the true princess had been kidnapped by a wicked faun. I did this 24/7 and never told a soul about it until I was in high school.
But as a kid, I loved to play the princess sort of pretend with my girlfriends—and a lavish wardrobe of flower girl dresses supplied by my great-aunt who ran a bridal shop. And I loved playing—not doctor—but space explorer with my boyfriends. Although I didn’t start reading early, I did catch up very quickly to take a look at what I had missed. By fifth grade I was reading adult books; by sixth my mom was horrified to find me reading her copy of Valley of the Dolls. Now that doesn’t mean I was reading all grown-up books. I was unfailingly faithful to Nancy Drew and patterned my mystery stories on her adventures. And I read any book of any kind that had any sort of “urban magic” in it. I knew I was going to find real magic . . . right up until the moment when I realized that I was going to have to write about it instead.
As to my juvenilia, I am devastated to report that some of it has survived. Ye gods, does it suck!

Hey again!
I’m so glad you replied! Usually when people do things like this, they don’t get to reply to everyone! So thank-you!
I actually watched the new vampire diaries series on surf the channel (as it’s not showing over here yet) and I’m liking it! The guy who plays Stefan is hot! ;) Hehe! I bet you feel really proud seeing all your characters come to life! I think once the plot develops a bit more, I could become really glued to it!
What books would you read when you are at home?
Lots of love!
Hi :)I am so enjoying reading your books they have left me wanting just too read all of your books(which I have) I think the are just brilliant. My favourite out of all of your books are Dark Visions I turley enjoyed that so much. Can I just say your Night World Series just left me speachlees I was up in the middle of the night to finish it of they are magnificent. your Vampire Diaries series are just as incredable I can’t wait when they bring the Tv Show to the UK I really hope they do I will truely enjoy that as much as reading the books.I am just so hoping that you will be visting the UK to do a book signing tore(at Adernal Center) I would truley love to meet you and to get my favourite books sign? I really hope so. Thanx for reading this, I am really a huge fan of yours. Emily. :) xxx
Sorry for that mistake I was asking at the Arndale Center would love to meet you there one day. From a really huge fan Em. :)xxx
Hey how come Meredith was kept out of the series?
Hey, thanks for posting this. I am in hostility towards twilight, they had the nerve to accuse you of copying them. Im spreading the word of your success that was published years earlier. Also, i was wondering if you may be able to help me with a problem. I thought i can ask you cause someone of your…supernatural understanding could help.
Thank you.
Hi, Mrs. Smith!
I’m one of your non-English-speaking fans. And yours The Vampire Diaries is the only books I had read on English. All the attempts to read the other books had failed. Maybe because I know the English language very bad… but I think that’s cause your true magic.
For me you are the greatest writer and your books is the best books I read ever!
Wow, I just read all my lines in the comment. How sad that my English teacher can’t read all of this))) she was wrong about me! You broke the language barrier by your Art.
I’m so excited now. I just wanna say BIG THANX to you, I will never stop reading your books.
From Russia with love.
Hi.Amanda–
Thank you for your kind words about my books. If they helped you through a hard time in your life. or made you forget a little when bad things were going on, I’m very, very glad indeed.
So you used to–or maybe still do==have the Gift of Pretend. Hold it precious and thank heaven for it. It’s a rare gift, and one that can keep you amused in “off time” all your life.
If you want to be a writer, I do fan fiction can be a wonderful training ground. You can be anonymous. You can steel yourself to listen to other people’s reactions to your fic. The main thing is to keep writing, and, if possible to keep improving, which you do by the very agonizing torture (and it IS agonizing torture) of having other people critique it. Maybe join a small group and swap stories. You can also improve by reading with a purpose: read concsciously, watching how the author sets up a scene (It ewa 6 hours later. Cassie sat on the cold ground . . .) or does dialogue (Forget what your elementary teachers taught you about usining synonyms for said. Said, asked, exclaimed, and a scattering of other words will get you through a novel.) Read a book like that and you are teaching yourelf how to write in at least one style.
And while I joke about just letting my characters go free and writing about them, this is after I’ve already figured out the beginning middle, and end of the story, and carefully crafted the characters: what do they look lilke, what do they want to be, what is unique about them. Planning and organizing are good things and use your computer for keeping all your notes.
I know this is a very long answer, but it is for all those who want to write and don’t know where to start. There are excellent books out there about how to write, but it’s all easier if you can Pretend. Good luck!
Hi Alanna–
Thank you and I’m doing very well! I’m delighted that you love my books and short stories.
I’m glad you’re enjoying Dark Visions and I’m a Gabriel fan, too. I want a guy who’d crawl on his belly over broken glass for ME–although he might need some surgery before I hugged him.
Yeah! I’m delighted to know that you’re starting your own YA book. If you want advice look above at the long answer I gave about How To Write.
I’m loving the TV show, too, and have adjusted to a brunette Elena. But in my books and heart she will have golden hair. I’m so glad you’re enjoying the TV series.
After Strange Fate? I don’t know. I would like to write a book for adults but I have so many different ideas for YA. Like: what would you do if one day you woke up to find that everyone in town was gone except the kids who go to your suburban high school…no adults, no more little sisters or brothers…and there is nothing but a void around your town. How would you interact? Who would take charge? How would you get through winter? And how would you find out the Secret of what had really happened to you?
Forbidden Game will be reissued in 2010 sometime, to the best of my knowledge. I hope sooner rather than later! Thank you for a very interesting post!
Hi Leslie and Leslie’s kind sister–
Yes, there will be a third (at least) new Vampire Diaries book released. Shadow Souls–February 2010. Midnight–I don’t know, because I just started writing it!
Thank you so much for your interest!
Hi Steph—
Yes, when I said I was hoping to redeem werewolves I meant I’d like to write a book in which a werewolf was a heroine or hero. I really can’t explain why I’ve picked on them so much. Poor werewolves, when I love wolves so. It’s just something that happened (I think I saw too many ugly transformation scenes in old werewolf movies) and once I made them bad guys and gals few of them turned out to be good (although don’t forget Lupe!)
Hi Delos-
EVERYBODY (practically) will be present in Strange Fate. That is what is currently driving me crazy writing it. And if by chance I miss someone I have vowed to myself to write an on line short story about what they were doing during the Apocolypse.
Thanks for asking!
Hi veVeon,
I’m glad you’re enjoying my books, but don’t get so obsessed that you walk into walls or anything! And if you know someone with supernatural powers, the James Randi will test them for you—really, really test.
I’m delighted that you were so inspired by Night World that you started writing fan fiction. I don’t mind a bit. Once I write a book and put it out for the public, people can do whatever they like with the characters.
So glad you enjoyed Dark Visions and thought it was awesome! As for whether any Night World book will ever be a movie, well, I don’t know. I would be very, very happy if it happened, but there are no plans right now. Thanks for your post!
Hi Trevor—
Oh, gosh—I don’t know the release date of Shadow Souls in Canada, but I will try to find out and post it for you. Amazon.com is often trustworthy but not always.
And, actually, I get a lot of e-mails from guys, young and old. You’re a velociraptor brother—you don’t threaten women; you’re not threatened by women.
Someday I pray that all guys will be like that!
The Vampire Diary books are in Fell’s Church and the TV series is in Mystic Falls. I’m not sure why the name had to be changed, but I like Mystic Falls. Although the church did me a lot of Gothic Good.
In the Vampire Diaries (books and TV) vampires must wear a lapis lazuli talisman (it can be anything made of lapis) or they die in sunlight.
Finally, thank you so very much for a very sweet thought! Keep being a brother to velociraptor sisters!
Hi Faythe,
I’m glad you’re enjoying Secret Circle and you’re very welcome! Hope you continue to enjoy!
Hi Jennifer A.M. (aka JAM)—
I’m so sorry , honestly sorry, but I haven’t even finished Strange Fate yet. I know now that this is probably a reason to whip me and beat me and keelhaul me and do other hideous things to me, but I can only write so fast and I’ve written two Vampire Diaries books and a number of short stories (some of which will be back up on my website again (www.ljanesmith.net) and I’m only halfway through Strange Fate and I’m sorry. So saying 2010 is the earliest it could possibly come out.
I like fighting girls, too. All my girls either start as fighting girls or grow up to be at least halfway fighting girls, but I like the ones who start with an attitude like Jez and Rashel and Keller.
I’m imagining you yelling at the TV. I do the same thing for every book I read that is made into a movie and am constantly saying “That didn’t happen at all!” or “That happened much later!” or things like that. But I’m very glad that you’re enjoying the show.
Thank you so much for your enthusiasm about my books. I appreciate your vivacity so much! And guess what? I LOVE Canada, so someday I may turn up on your doorstep.
Hi again Jennifer A.M. (aka JAM)–
Let’s take this to email. Write to info@ljanesmith.com and put BLOGFEST in the subject (not that I’m likely to forget you in a hurry.)
I just wanted to say that I am a HUGE fan of your books, especially the Night World series. But on your website I read that you would write a story about Lord Thierry and Lady Hannah, so I would always go to your website every day to check and see if you have the story. I am a big fan of Soulamte, and I was hoping that maybe you can write that one little story.
Hi Clare—
I’m so glad you’re enjoying the TV series. Yes, I think that in time it will become even more addictive!
What books am I reading? Well, right now I am reading “I, Claudius” (for the 15th time), Dan Brown’s new book, “The Lost Symbol,” “Not Just the Levies Broke” (about Hurricane Katrina survivors) and “The Bone Woman” (research for Vampire Diaries: Midnight.)
Sounds dull? In my head Elena has just put herself into a fight between Stefan and Damon and is holding Damon off by hanging onto Stefan’s neck and kicking Damon when he gets close.
See the fun of Pretend?
Dear Emily–
Thank you and thank you and thank you for a lovely message. I’m so glad you like my various series! And believe me I adore England (I guess I should say) the UK) and I would absolutely love to go to the Arndale Center and sign books.
Thank you again for such a sweet post!
OH MY GOSH!
Thank you so much for answering my post. I kept looking up everyday after and before school to see if you had written something back. I was looking at who you had written to and saying, “it’s almost my turn, its almost my turn” and when I looked at it 10 minutes ago, I jumped in joy when I saw that I had a reply. My brother was actually eyeing me a few minutes ago, wondering why I was so happy. After I told him about it, he said that he would expct me to frame your reply. (which I must admit I might :P )
Thank you so much for replying, I am very grateful for it.
With love from your fan,
Jen A.M. (a.k.a. JAM)
P.S. I already sent you the e-mail
:)
Wanted to start off by saying you are an AMAZING author! I began reading your books a while back. Night World caught my attention and held it. I passed the novels around to all my friends (it’s been read so much that it’s falling apart; time for a new copy!). When my friend said I should try Vampire Diaries, I gladly accepted. When I was done for with the first one, I can honestly say I thirsted for more. I demanded the next ones and was finished with the series (so far) in two days. You are truely brillant.
Most people ask what inspired you, but I want to know who did you go to, if anyone, with your ideas? and if you didn’t bounce ideas off of anybody, how did you get your thoughts together?
Also, when you have “writer’s block”, what do you do to get past that?
Sorry for all the questions, I write too and am very curious.
Hey Cherish–
Please, please be patient with the TV series. There are a lot of characters to introduce and Meredith WILL appear. Thank you!
Meanwhile, in Midnight, I will reveal a shocking secret about Meredith that nobody has ever guessed. ^^
Hi Devin–
I am not aware that anyone official at Twilight Headquarters had accused me of copying them. That would simply be foolish, as the copyright dates are on the books. But there is no need to be hostile–it only hurts you and it will not affect the person you’re angry with.
I am not really an expert at supernatural phenomena, but if you have a problem write me at info@ljanesmith.net, put BLOGFEST in the header, and I’ll be glad to listen. Thanks for your post!
Dear Roman,
I think you write English EXCELLENTLY for someone who is writing it as a second language. I am so happy that you have enjoyed my books, but a little puzzled. I know that some of them, at least, were bought by Russia and published in Cyrillic.
In any case, I am very, very happy that you have enjoyed my books. I thank you for a very sweet post. If ever I am in Russia I would love to visit you.
And you are very, very welcome. I write first because I love to do it and second for people like you!
Hey
I am like one of your hugest fans ever. I know probably alot of peple say tht but I’ve read like all yor books well except secret circle, the forbidden game, the night of solitice, heart of valor and thats about it. But i’d love to give you a BIG THANKS because you inspired me to become a writer. I wish I could meet you, but I can’t so Heres a “hug”!!! :P
I wanted to thank you so much for your reply to my post. It made my day. They did help me. I can’t pick a favorite series, but I do really love Secret Circle. I’m Wiccan, so it’s kinda obvious why I would love it. But I just can’t choose. All of them are wonderful.
I sure hope that I do. I mean sometimes I’ll catch myself day dreaming at work or when I’m driving. And your novels do inspire me. And I hope that one day I can create something that at least one person will love and enjoy. Again, thank you so much for taking the time to reply to my post. It’s really did make my day. I know you are very busy. I hope you don’t mind, but I’d like to e-mail you sometime to the e-mail I’ve seen. Thank you for the wonderfully inspiring books. Keep on continuing to bless us with them. Blessed be!
Just want to say that you are a great author! I look up to you as one of my idols. (I hope to become a great writer as well.) Also, when will you be posting any new short stories, if any, on your website? They are fun to read.
Ms.Smith,
I have been reading your books since they first came out; you and Jane Austen are still my favourite writers. I feel very privileged now to be able to introduce your books to my own high school students, who absolutely eat them up! It’s difficult to get them to read them at first – the Twilight fans because they’re so hardcore Twilight, and the Twilight haters because they’re so anti-Twilight – but I persist, and I have never had a student not love your books. Those who have read Twilight say they like yours way better. (I second that!) Now our school library is bringing your work in, and I could not be more delighted! Word of your writing is spreading like wildfire amongst my students, and I love fanning the flames!
I am always ecstatic to see your books in the stores now; I had to hunt some of the originals down on Ebay years ago because I couldn’t find them anywhere! Whenever I see your books it’s funny because I almost have that feeling that people get when their friends become famous – I get that, “Yay, I knew her!” feeling. I just wanted your books to be huge because you are an incredibe story-weaver, and I felt that people were missing out.
You are finally getting the recognition you deserve for your fabulously entertaining work. I am really enjoying the Vampire Diaries show, even if it is different from the books. The essence of you still rings through the show, and that is what reaches people.
I am one who is, of course, over the moon about Strange Fate; however, I do appreciate the care you are putting into making it just right. You created some fantastic characters, intricate storylines, and it all must end to YOUR satisfaction. These are your characters that you have created in a world of your own making. Sometimes it’s difficult to bring that to the right conclusion so that we feel like we did our characters justice. Regardless, I am very much looking forward to the day that I hold it in my hands. I do believe I may weep a little. :0)
Thank you for continuing to share your beautiful, engaging, and empowering stories with us.
A fan for life,
Melissa

I’m 27 years old and have read and re-read your books since I was 14 years old. I am so glad that you are back to writing. It’s been to long. I love, love, love how The Vampire Diaries is now a TV Show on the CW. The actors are perfect for their parts. Even though it’s slightly different than the books, it still manages to maintain what you put into the book series. It’s great. I can’t wait to for Shadow Souls and the next Night World to be published. Keep doing what you’re doing.
Sincerely,
Angela(ATL, GA)
Hi again,
Also, I just wanted to (awkwardly) ask: is it okay if I send you a “thank you” card for all the help you gave me? Um, I feel strange sending it without asking you first. But I’ve always felt indebted to you and quite guilty about how dark those years were for me, and I appreciated all of your kind words then and never forgot them once things got better. (And they did get better, thank goodness!)
Let me just start of with…I love your books! They are amazing! I’ve reads every single one of your books at least six times and I never get tired of them! I can’t wait till Strange Fate comes out! You are truly my favriote author and it was because of your books that I felt I had to write too! You inspired me to write and all I can say is Thank You for writing those amazing books. One of my favroites is The Secret Circle. I’ve read that book fifteen times now! Every time I read it I feel as if I’m in the book and of course when I snap out of it and realize where I really am I wish I was in the book. I must ask you and I hope you write back, are you planning on writing another book to continue the Secret Circle or like a short story to put on your website? I world truly love that and probably read it over and over again! But I had to ask even though I know the answer will be no I was curious. Even though you might not be continuing the screct circle you must promise me you will still write. I just love reading your books!:)
Hey! I just wrote to say I’ve been keeping up with the Vampire Diaries TV show on Youtube since it’s not in England yet, and I’m really liking it! Ian Somerhalder plays a great Damon! :)
What kind of books would you suggest whilst we’re waiting for Shadow Souls and Strange Fate? I can’t wait for them-time’s trickling by so slowly! I’ve got all of your books and had them all sent over from America the minute they came out! Such a huge fan of yours! Please keep writing! :D
OH MY G you had such in incredible imagination. No wonder your such a great author. i love all your books. Vampire diaries, Night World was Awesome gosh i can wait for you to write more.
Hey L. J. Smith,
I am a big fan of your Vampire Diaries seris. I love your twisting plot! It is so much fun to read and so hard to put down! But I do see a problem with the show the CW has put out. I have found my self yelling at the TV when some big things aren’t correct. I feel like something is missing. I couldn’t even finish the first episode.
I was just wondering, if the changes from book to TV were your idea or the CW’s idea? And what is your opinion on all the changes it has undergone?
Thanks for taking the time to read my comment! Reply if you can!
-breaths in slowly- Hi…. -insert more dots here- wow, I am pulling a very large blank in the prescense of your pwnsome… blog… thingy majigy haha xD uh, I’m Hannah, and its no joke that I’m a huge, gignormous fan and so love you and your books xD Though I have yet to read all of your books yet [I had a chance to get one of your books today, the Dark Visions, then I looked at the price and did an actual xD, haha] I’m a huge reader and at the moment am thirteen years old, but the older someone has ever thought me to be was… sixteen or seventeen, which I was just like ‘blah… WHAT?!’ Like, I’m not that mature looking!
Okay, I know, I’m ramblings
So, as I was saying before, I’m a huge fan. Actually, a whole bunch of my friends are. THeres three [and maybe four, she's reading them] in total and all day in school you can hear us squealing about them from across the halls. Seriously, the other kids look at us and start walking faster xD We’re that group, yep yep. I am completely giddy about Strange Fate, since the Night World book inspired me so much. [Gosh, I wish I could right down my whole life] Me and my best friends got this big addiction to witchy… stuff after we read your books. We both got the candles that stand for the different elements. We actually went on the beach and cast a circle, but you know, its windy around here, so it didn’t exactly go as planned xD She moved on… Me, not so much. I am a big addict to the mystical meanings of stones now [hugs her bloodstone] Like, with my friend, she moves on from things right away, but the things that I liked always stick with me a little bit.
Am I making any sense in the least?
Okay, lets move on. I’m a author wannabee and taking it pretty slow, but I’m getting along. I’ve wroten quite a few stories, short stories mostly and the longest book I ever wrote was 150 pages, about a werewolf girl who falls in love with another werewolf who betrays who to the vampires… blahh blah blah my friends liked it xD Your a big inspiration to me, as I stated above, mostly in the stories. Though, without my music, I’d probably be sitting on my bed, staring at the roof, drooling with a pad and paper in my hands.
I’d love to meet you someday and am praying that it will happen, but I live in a pretty isolated spot, so I don’t think I’ll have that much of a chance. You’d be my hero if you would like… send me an email and then I’d send you my mail box… thing and maybe send me a signed autograph or something? Its okay if you can’t though, I completely understand, your mailbox is probably always blocked up by tons of people asking this, so if you don’t want to give it a thought, don’t bother :D I’ll understand.
Hannah
Miss Smith I love your books especially the NightWorld series. My friends and I are avid readers of your work and we all would like to say that you have created a new home for us. Personally , I am a picky reader and my #1 is Harry Potter and haven’t found anything to match it except NightWorld. If the Vampires other supernatural beings existed, I will trust no one but you with my life. I am battling depression from when I was in elementary school and will like to thank you from the bottom of my being for creating stories that let me escape and have my dreams in writing. Sometimes I feel like you’re the only one I can turn to. I am a writer myself trying my best to look for a literacy agent(no luck) and I actually have been trying to put my personal life into my work but I just can’t. The day that I told my friends this, I found Nightworld #2 in the library and what caught my attention was Soulmate. When I read Soulmate, I was driven to tears. The first few pages, I said Hey, this sounds like me, and when I read it, tears streamed down my cheeks as I just sat shock and for that instant hated you for writing this story because it was my life story the story I couldn’t write! I just didn’t want to accept it, so as you can see, you’ve helped through a lot. I just finished reading the Witchlight and my heart aches so much since there’s only one book to go. I feel as if a part of me is torn and just had to write to you. With all my love and life Thank You
Kia ora from New Zealand,
Started reading your books in like 1997 or 1998 I absolutly lovvvvved the night world and Forbidden Game series. I picked up the vampire diaries and re-read it when I heard it was being made into a tv series, just for old times sake but sadly the public libraries don’t stock the other series anymore, I think i might have to get a collection and donate it. Anyway thanks for the childhood memories but I’m 21 now and still waiting to hear the conclusion to the nightworld! Some of us never get too old to forget that we didnt get to know the end of the story! Keep up the writing :)
Hi, I’ve been reading your books for a long time now and had given up hope of ever seeing the end of Nightworld. I started when I was 11 (I’m 21 now) and now I’m worried about reading the new ones in case you’re out of touch with the characters! I know it sounds really cheeky, but I want to be able to just slip into those characters that I know and love once more. And I’m already disappointed with The Vampire Diaries without having watched it yet (Elena has a brother?) and the fact that they clearly didn’t take into account the character descriptions in the books.
I just recently started reading Th Vampire Diaries. (and not because of the show, which I enjoy) I’ve been wanting to read them for a long time now. Now that I’ve picked it up, I was wondering how many Vampire Diaries books are there? Thank You!
(P.S. I just finished the second book and I love it.)
I have saw on Amazon that Strange fate will be released in April 2010. Is that true and also I wanted to comment on the TV show. I like it but I feel like they have taken away alot of the values that you put in your books and made it to Hollywood, but Im glade to see that it is doing so well and it is just starting so I plan on tying to stay intreste, but my biggest consern is were is Meredith.
Love ya tons and tons,
Jessica
Hi again. Do you have any plans or writing anything more on Forbidden Games or Dark Visions, like maybe on your website just some little stories of whats going on now? I really miss those characters. But I guess Forbidden Games wouldn’t be the same without Julian. I seen too on your site you were writing a little more on Secret Circle is that still a plan? I know you are crazy busy with Strange Fate and the rest of Vampire Diaries so no pressure! Okay one more question when you release Strange Fate are you going to do some book signings?
And thanks for responding to my other post! That made my year!!
Hi LJ!
First off I’d like to say, I’m such a fan of yours! I personally think your stories are pure genius. I’m always amazed at how you put the stories together. I’ve finished reading all the Night World books so far last week, including the short stories on your website! Jez is by far my favourite character!
I never used to be too interested in reading but ever since I started reading your books, I’m going mad, buying every book in site and reading them quite faster than I used to be able to! I’ve recently started reading the Dark Visions trilogy and I’ve fallen in love with it, I’m going to read the second book tomorrow. xD
I can’t wait to buy every other book you’ve written! haha.
I’m sort of afraid that when Strange Fate is published, it’ll take a while to reach where I’m living. Since I live halfway across the world!
Oh, and I need to do a biography on my favourite author for a school project and I wanted to do one on you. So I would love to know what books you might have read while you were growing up! Was Pride and Prejudice one of them?
I’ve just started writing stories recently, all of them inspired by yours. I hope I’ve improved at least a little bit.
I’m sorry I’ve been rambling randomly, but it feels so great that I might be able to talk to someone who’s influenced my life so much in such a short time.
I hope to hear from you soon!
Loves,
Cerena!
Oops, I just realised you already said what books you’ve read, growing up! But I would still love to know details! xD.
Hey I love your books! Will you be making movies of the Night World series? If you do they would be awesome, I love your night world books they rock!
um i loveeeee the vampire dairies and i was wondering ,are you going to write the shadow souls the second installment of the vampire dairies:the return
L.J-
Thank you for replying to my prvious post! As I’ve been reading your responses and other peoples posts. I noticed alot of adults like your books. I am and adult myself and i have no shame in going to the young adult section to buy your books. Like I told you before i work at a nursing home. The elderly struggle with reading, so i hold a book club once a week. The resident’s love it. we just finished reading the Secret Circle series. They can’t get enough of your books. i read them out loud. my group keeps getting bigger and bigger. You would thing that that generation wouldn’t appreciate fantasy books with magic and bloodlust, but they do. They pass me in the halls trying to get me to tell them what’s going to happen next. It’s funny. I have been lending my copies out to residents and there is a waiting list :) You books touch all generations. You are an adult book writter. You just never knew it. I thank you and my residents and the nursing home thak you too.
Krista
P.S. Keep writting them and I will keep reading them.
hi Ms Smith
i was wondering would you be writing a fourth instalment for the secret circle triology , this is my best trilogy by you and i would love it if there was a fourth book i can enjoy reading as much as i have enjoyed the other three .i would really appreciate if you would reply back thanks again for writing such amazing books xxxx
Hi :)
i just wanted to say that i love your books
Right now my goal is to read all of them.
When i first read the vampire diaries i fall for STEFAN,
but then your way of talking about Damon, and how he

Hello Mrs. Smith I recently found out about yours books and loved them so much that I think I read them in record time! LOL I loved “Secret Vampire” and of course “The Vampire Diaries”. I’m actually writing you because of that. I was wondering if maybe you could give us(all your fans) a teaser about Bonnie and/or Bonnie/Damon on “Shadow Souls” as you can see they are my favorite characters and “pairing” you may say.
I read this teaser but there was nothing on my beloved Bonnie. http://authspot.com/novels/shadow-souls-teaser/
